This morning I felt like a lump, so I didn't not run or bike or swim. BAD ANN. But I did go to pilates and pump and then had a salad with my instructor. I like her. She is so funny and my age, but she has three children! At my age. Wow.
I am golfing this evening with my Dad, so that will count for some exercise.
When I got home just now!!! I had a happy message from an old job that they just found money in an old retirement fund, so I get some!! Yeah!!
Hopefully tomorrow the slug-like feeling will move on to someone else and I can get a good run in before the weekend.

Wednesday already!!!
I am finally feeling human again. I needed sleep! We had a very busy weekend and I am ready for a vacation now. Friday when Tim got home we went and hit balls and then had dinner with his kids.
On Saturday we cleaned out the garage and the basement. Then we had our couple league golf night. It was so fun. It was a scotch format, so we hit every other ball. We were almost never in the fairway and we just laughed the whole time. We ended up tied for second, so that rocked! It was so fun! Then we had dinner at the little local sports bar. Fun day.
On Sunday he finally got his stuff, so we spent the day moving stuff. Then we had a very nice Birthday dinner in honor of Mary. My parents made potato salad, market salad, chicken sausages, bundt cake and strawberries. Yumm-o! Then we waxed the leather furniture until VERY late in the evening.
Monday we woke up and moved more stuff around, waxed furniture again, ran errands, and put the house back together. Mom and Dad brought a present for Maddie's third birthday...the cutest little green striped t-shirt with flowers. She loves it! We also got to play a very nice round of golf at a local course we hadn't played before. Very fun!!
Tuesday I was so completely exhausted!!! I did pump and pilates and then cleaned the house a little. I had bookclub dinner night. Then came home a crashed again. Today is the first day I am feeling better.
I went to pilates this morning and in a bit I am going to ride to the gym and run and stretch. I am going to run 5 miles on the treadmill to see how long it takes. I am getting so excited for my race on the 10th!!
That's all for now!!!

Four-Day Weekend!
Yeah! I am so glad it is Friday!!! Last night I crashed as soon as I got into bed. I was whooped. That was a really good workout day. I want to stick with it on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
This morning I went to pilates and then ran 3.85 miles. It took about 40 minutes. I also walked a little at the beginning and the end. Then I again stretched for a long time. I love this little stretcher machine at the gym. It helps teach the right positions and it helps get better stretches for my lower back, hamstrings, upper back, hips, inner thighs and shoulders. Love it!
I am waiting for Tim to get back any minute now and our weekend will officially start.

Thursday workout day
Today has been a great workout day!!! I got up and rode my bike 3.5 miles to the gym, swam 36 laps, rode 3.5 miles home. Took a quick shower. (that chlorine is so gross.) Went to pilates and then pump'd. I am a little tired now! Great workouts though, so I am happy, happy Ann.
Yesterday I tried to ride to the gym, but it rained on me and it was 46 degrees, so I came home and got my car. I ran a really good three miles on the treadmill. 35 minutes including warm up and cool down and I was very pleased. Then I stretched for a looooong time. Loved that.
We couldn't grill our burgers last night, so we ended up having Shrimp Diavolo. Yummy. Crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, garlic, oregano, red pepper and shrimp on whole wheat pasta. It is so good. From the Weight Watchers cookbook. We also watched Casino and I really enjoyed it!!!
Tonight when Tim gets home we want to hit golf balls, then we are going to the bike store so I can test some road bikes, then we will shop for a few grocery items. It is burger night and sweet potato fries. Yumm-o.
Today is also Tim's Friday. YEAH!!! Tomorrow morning we both have stuff to take care of, but then it is a 4 day weekend!!! Whoohooo.

Fessing up to the Internets
Before my web-fession, I have to tell you an ick. I just set my vitamins on the table and went to grab water and when I came back one was missing. So I chased the Maddie (almost three years old!!) around and finally caught her. Then I stuck my fingers in her mouth and went vitamin fishing. I was really in there good, but I didn't have much luck, as I was deciding I would have to go deeper I leaned down and saw the vitamin under the chair. Ick.
So here it is, my web-fession: I gained back about 4 pounds. I am a fraud. I had to move my 50 pounds lost magnet to the back of the fridge. But the thing is, and I know this will sound like bunk, but I don't know that it is all fat. I kinda think it is some muscle. My clothes don't fit different. In fact! My goal jeans that I try on each week fit better this week than my 50 pound lost week. And I did go up in weights in pump class, so maybe???
But! It sucks! And I don't want to gain anymore. Ever. But Also!! I don't think I will ever weigh 140. I think 150 is the lowest I can get while still eating. And honestly, I like eating. I won't give that up. As long as I look fit and healthy I should be happy. No flab should be enough!
Part of the trouble is the drinking. My body will not lose weight if I drink. When I was losing it was during Lent when I wasn't drinking. I am not going to drink for the 17 week training for the half marathon either, so that will help.
The other part is that I am hungry! All the working out make me hungry. I don't think one can just ignore that. I need to eat more beans. Those fill me up pretty good. I also need to stop eating bread. It is a trigger food. As are crackers, chips, etc.... I also MUST give up the desserts. We have been making a super yummy dessert based on the Peanut Butter 1 Point Yummies, which I have previously mentioned on here. These we call the Not 1 Point Peanut Butter Yummies. They are made by dumping vanilla or chocolate ice cream (low-fat or fat-free) into the blender, adding milk, dark chocolate syrup and peanut butter. Blend until yummy. Eat and enjoy. We must stop making these. Or at least make them a lot less often.
So, Mary suggested I start pointing again. I think I will try. Here is today's plan:
Fiber One Bar - 2 points
FF/SF Grande Latte - 3 points
Carrot Cake Clif Bar - 4 points
Laura's Lean burger and bun - 7 points
Sweet Potato "fries" - 3 points
Veggies for snacks - 0 points
Dessert (popcorn??) - 3 points
To the total for the day is = 22 points.
That's good. I need to stick with that. And workout. But I get hungry! I need more zero-point snacks around. Carrots alone won't cut it!
As soon as the rain stops I am going to ride my bike to the gym to swim. Or! If it doesn't stop in 30 minutes I am going to drive to the gym, run on the treadmill and then swim.
Tonight we will watch a movie since all of our shows are done, well except for Sopranos. We should get a lot more NetFlix in now that we don't have Monday, Tuesday and Thursday shows to watch.

Sweater Weather again
Well, May 22nd and Maddie is back in her sweater. I am thinking I will have to turn on the heat soon. I am freezing.
Today I had Tai Chi, Pilates and Pump. I am about to go to the gym for cardio. This weather sucks. I don't think Maddie will be voluntarily going outside anytime soon.
Tonight is the season finale for the Big Break. I am looking forward to it and since i like both of the final people, I will be happy whichever way it goes.
That's all. I need some more ideas for blogging. Just reporting on the workouts isn't taking too long.

Three weeks of training
Three weeks from yesterday is my 8K. Yeah!!! I am excited about it, but I have to work on the training. Here is my plan:
Monday: Pilates, Run
Tuesday: Pilates, Pump, Ride bike to rec center, Swim
Wednesday: Pilates, Run
Thursday: Pilates, Pump, Ride bike to rec center, Swim
Friday: Pilates, Run
Saturday: Pilates, Pump, Golf
Sunday: rest day
On to other things....Sopranos -- Last week it took me until Thursday to really snap out of the funk I had due to Tony killing Christopher. Then last night I was actually crying when A.J. was in the pool, so I don't know what the last two episodes will do to me. I hope I can make it for two weeks until the next show.
Tonight is the season finale of 24. We have a special dinner planned, but I can't drink wine during or I think I might spill. I hate that we have to wait again for more Jack.
That's all for now. More soon!

Weekend Update
Our Friday vacation day rocked! We slept a tiny bit late and then got coffee. Maddie loves to ride along on weekend Starbucks rides. Then we had breakfast on the patio and then headed out to walk the course for my 8k run. It was so fun. We were right downtown and moved at a reasonable pace, despite being in the heart of lunch hour.
It starts in "Riverfront Park" which I think is a new made-up part of Denver that surrounds Confluence Park and basically is a dog walk area for all the million dollar brand new lofts in the area. Then it heads up 20th past the stadium and you head over the 17th. Go down there and around some big buildings to Pearl, wind back to 15th and head back. You jump on the Cherry Creek bike trail at Larimer. It is a nice course. We easily walked it in an hour and 20 minutes, so I am hoping to run it in around 50 minutes. It is three weeks from tomorrow.
After the walk we hit balls and then did abs and stretches for about an hour. It was a really good workout day. Then we showered, grilled out and watched a movie. Very nice day.
Today I had pilates and pump. Tim hit balls at the driving range and then we got coffee. We did some yardwork and now we are getting ready to head out for our first couples league golf evening. It is a 2-person scramble so we are really excited!! Too bad the afternoon clouds are rolling in. I hope they hold off until tomorrow.

Thursday
Wow, I can't believe I haven't updated since Monday. This week flew by. It is already Thursday!
Tuesday was a busy day. I went to pilates and pump and then met my Mom for her Mother's Day present. We got pedicures and starbucks. It was a fun time. My toes are a bit more orange than I would do again, but at least the nails are short. I hate when they touch my running shoes.
Wednesday I had pilates and then another 1/2 hour on the bosu. I can't believe how awesome that thing is! I love it. Yesterday was ab day on it, so I did side crunches, pushups, v-sits, and more. I can totally feel it today. What an awesome workout. Mary would LOVE it! Today when I walked in, they wanted me to try something they just thought of....pushups with hands on the flat of the bosu and feet on a big ball. Tough! But awesome. Felt it right away!
Today I had pilates and then pump. I am so glad I went up last week in weight for squats, chest and back. I think Tuesday I will go up for triceps. I don't know that I can make it for the whole time though, so it might be wise to have something else close.
This afternoon I wanted to run outside, but we are going to get more typical Denver afternoon storms and I have to admit they scare me a bit, so I will go to the gym and hit the treadmill. Just 35 - 45 minutes. Nice and easy. I have three weeks and three days to the 8k. Slightly nervous, but actually way more excited. I just hope I can go the whole distance.
This weekend is the Colfax Marathon in Denver, so it would be a bad weekend to go walk the course. Maybe Tim and I can do that tomorrow as I think he is taking the day off!!! Yeah!!
I guess that is all for an update now. Tonight we are going to try a new MFS recipe, Grilled Striped Bass, poblano black beans, rice and Strawberry Shortcakes. I'll let you know.
Oh, one more thing!!! Both of our couples golf leagues start this Saturday, so we have an early tee time at one and a later tee time at the other. Hopefully we can make both work!!! FUN!!!

Back to the grind
I took Sunday completely off of exercising. Tim and I made a wonderful brunch for my parents and we all then watched golf. We made Chicken Salad Lettuce Wraps, Herb Pita Crisps, Spinach Pasta Salad, and Fruit & Mint Salad. We also finished up with Chocolate Mousse. And later ice cream. And we started with Limeades and Champagne.
Then we watched Phil! Win! Yeah! I am not sure that my Mom would have chosen to watch golf, but she enjoyed snuggling with Maddie and talking with everyone.
Today I went to pilates and then had my first half hour private on the BOSU ball. I loved it, but it was hard! Tons of good cardio mixed in with lunges, squats, jumps, balancing. I really want one now. I have another 1/2 hour on Wednesday.
This afternoon I sewed tabs on a baby quilt for my friend, Jen, to hang in the baby's room. Jen is getting to ready to have this baby - she cannot go much longer. Then my Mom and I had a PFLAG art auction committee meeting. I need to get moving on sponsorship letters. They need to go out June 1.
Tomorrow will be a big day....running, pilates, pump, meeting up with my mom and getting nails done.

No Sausages, but a great morning anyway!
First off, Tony's wasn't handing out sausages at the finish line. But I still loved my first race!
I think I finished quite well. I finished in 31:04. I was 81st out of 227 or more. I was hoping to be a minute less, but I am still very proud of my time. Also, I didn't throw up or even heave. When I finished I was able to get a cup of water and go back in time to see my Dad finish. His knee has been hurting, so he didn't push it too hard.
Then we both got some oranges and more water and waited for Mom and Tim to finish. We got to wave and yell to them when they came down the hill. I also saw them when I was nearing the finish line and they both waved and yelled good job to me. It was fun.
After the race we waited around to try and win door prizes. Mom won a gift card to Arby's, but no one else won anything. We waited until the end to see if Mom won an age group award, but she didn't. I bet she was close though. Hopefully all the results will be posted at www.ssprd.org very shortly. I just looked and they weren't up yet.
The race definitely made me want to do more!!! I have no idea how I can run 13 miles in October, but I am excited to try. I can't believe it is so soon!!! I gotta get to the training.
All in all it was a super fun morning and I love my tee shirt and I did get a coupon for a pound of FREE meatballs from Tony's....so that makes it totally worth the effort.

Tomorrow...
Wow, now it is tomorrow. I know that certain people who read this think that it is only a little race and I shouldn't be nervous, but it is my first little race, so I am nervous. What if people run into me, or I run into them. What if I fall. What if I run like Phoebe did in that one Friends?
Anyway, I am super excited also. I want to get there and run! I think it will be fun. We are picking up my parents at 7:30 and heading over to park somewhere. We don't know where.....Then we will get our packets and such. And then run....then get our free sausages!
Today was Tai Chi and pilates. Then I met Tim for our first of the season Friday afternoon picnics. Now I am waiting for him to come home from work so we can look at a cute table on sale at a garage sale down the street, then go pick up his suits from the tailor. Fun times!!
I'll post my time tomorrow. Hoping for under 30 min!!!

Two days left...
Only two more days until my first race! I am still very nervous. Very.
This morning I got up early (for me) and ate breakfast, then after two hours of digesting I went out to run. It went SO much better today. Almost 3 miles in 32 minutes. Yeah! The next time I run it will be at the race!
Then I went to pilates and pump. Butt work and some quad stuff. Good classes. I was talking
with some of the women there and one has a friend who is interested in selling her road bike, so she is going to find out how much for me and let me know tomorrow! YEAH! Think good thoughts.
This afternoon I am washing the kitchen floor and mowing the grass. We really need to get the sprinklers working, but in the meantime I need to water with the hose and the best way to do that is to mow first. Also it is sunny and about 72 degrees. I want to be outside!
Maddie will enjoy having me in her yard. She is currently curled up in the sun on one of the deck chairs. I should take her a pillow!

Good News, Bad News
The good news:
- I ran my first mile in 10:04. Definitely the best yet.
- The weather is finally awesome.
- I am over the weird blah sickness I had for two days, which makes me think it is weather related.
- I moved up again to heavier weights today.
- Maddie has been extra snugly lately.
- The weather is supposed to be really great this weekend for the race.
- I think we are going to hit balls this evening!
The bad news:
- I don't feel 100% when I run in the afternoon after Pilates and Pump. I need to run before other activities.
- I didn't go the five miles I wanted today, I actually only walked/ran 3 miles. But I did it in 32:20.
- I am so nervous about the race on Saturday. I know I can go that far and I know i will be OK, but it all makes me nauseous.
So, for the record --
- Monday - Pilates
- Tuesday -- Tai Chi, Pilates, Pump, Run/Walk 32 min

MFS Chambagritas!!!
Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!! Tim and I are celebrating by eating chips, salsa, guacamole and Chambargritas. Martha F*&$ing Stewart Chambargritas dude!
Following the May 2007 Martha Stewart magazine recipe we mixed a shitpot full of liquor with a teeny-tiny bit of fruit juice and VOILA! Chambargritas!!! We can no longer drive anywhere and he keeps calling the dog the wrong name. So cute. AND FUN!!!
So yesterday was another awesome workout. I went to pilates and then swam. 40 laps in 26 minutes. Today I went to pump and pilates. I have one week to prepare for my first 5K. Nervous!
Today was also the baby shower for my friend, Jen's, second baby. Little Lucy is due at the end of May. So cute!!! Two and a half hours with teeny, bitty little baby clothes is NOT what I needed. I already had baby fever pretty bad, but this was over the top!!!
So now we are finishing the Chambargritas, trying to find a funny movie, and snuggling on the couch.
Celebrate Safe!

Good Day!
I love Thursdays. I always have. Today is a particularly good one. We got to sleep in a little bit later today, because Tim had to meet someone at 9:30, so he didn't have to leave until 9. Then I had nice Pilates and Pump classes. Although I added weight on Tuesday to the chest press, and today it felt WAY heavier.
Then I ran on the treadmill. I had a GREAT workout. I ran inside for two reasons, one to give my knees a break as they were a bit sore Tuesday and two because of the g.d. wind. UGH.
So I ran 3.1 miles in 30:50. YEAH ME! It felt good. Faster than last time I ran one. I walked another 9:10 for a total of 40 minutes, 3.7 miles, 345 calories burned, and an average HR of 148. YEAH!
The day will get even better soon because Tim will be home soon and we will watch the Republican Presidential Debate while eating Seafood Burgers! Can a girl be much happier???

Tri for the Cure -- August 5, 2007
Whoohooo!! Mary and I are going to do a triathlon. The Tri for the Cure in Denver on August 5th. It is a 750 Meter Swim (1/2 Mile), 20K Bike (12.4 Miles), and a 5K Run (3.1 Miles) at Cherry Creek State Park.
I have no idea how far that is for the swim, but it seems far. Yeah!!! Another goal to train for.
So for now I am doing these races:
May 12 - Highline Canal 5K
June 8 - Women's 8K
August 5 - Tri for a Cure
October 20 - KC Half Marathon
I am still looking for a 10k in September.
FUN!
