Friday afternoon when Tim got home, we rode to the grocery store to get some dinner items. I rode another second hand bike I was testing out and he rode my white bike. About two minutes into the ride we both knew we were not on well-fitting bikes, but we plugged away anyway.
We decided just to bite the bullet and get new road bikes. So, Saturday morning after pump and pilates we went and bought them!!! I got the Ruby Expert and he got the Sequoia. We got all the accessories and everything we could possible need. Tim even got clipless pedals and shoes.
All the way home I was telling Tim that he would fall and just to get ready for it and not to worry about it. We wanted to ride today, so I was hoping he would fall right away and get it over with....He did. We went down to where the new Whole Foods is going to be built and turned around. He didn't think I was stopping, but I did and he leaned the wrong way trying to stop behind me and he fell. It wasn't bad and he got right back up. He was happy to be done with the fall. All in all we rode about 15 miles on various bikes yesterday testing them out and trying different things.
This morning we went and met people from the studio to ride to Cherry Creek for coffee. Another girl and her husband were going and they are very new beginners, so it was a good, easy chance for Tim to practice. He did great!!! He kept up with the group the whole time and didn't have any issues. The only scary thing of the ride was watching another rider on the trail get carried up on a stretcher by emts. They had her in a neck brace and everything. I hope she is ok and it was just precautionary. I don't think I will tell mom that story.
When we got home we fixed up Tim's mountain bike and went riding on a few trails around the house. It was pretty chilly and windy, so we only went about 5 miles. Tim hadn't ever been on dirt before, so that was a blast! It was the trails where we went snow shoeing last winter, for those of you readers who remember that.
Finally this afternoon, we hung up all of our bikes so that we can park both cars in the garage. We would really prefer keeping our bikes in the dining room, but we don't have one.
